Three CD set featuring cuts from the guitar legend who has been a member of Thin Lizzy as well as a successful Rock and Blues guitarist. Each CD is divided into different categories: Rock, Blues and Live. Disc One (Rock) features 'Out In The Fields' (with Phil Lynott), 'Wild Frontier', 'Like Angels' and others. Disc Two (Blues) features 'Still Got The Blues', 'Oh Pretty Woman' (featuring Albert King), 'Mean Cruel Woman' and more. Disc Three (Live) features definitive versions of 'Murder In The Sky', 'Cold Day In Hell', 'Military Man' and plenty more. 45 tracks in all. EMI. 2006.

This is a truly amazing box set. The 3 discs are divided into separate categories: Rock, Blues and Live. Although there are some duplicate tracks on Disc 3, (Parisienne Walkway and Empty Rooms for example), it doesn't matter since the live versions are an absolute must, even if it's just for the amazing guitar break in Parisenne Walkway.

Each disc can be listened to in its entirety without feeling anything is missing. But if you listen to all 3 you get a great sense of completeness. There are also a couple of great bluesy tracks with Albert King and Albert Collins.

Gary Moore's version of "Wishing Well" is even better than the original "Free" version. There's not a duff track in this box set.
It's a really well-thought out collection of his work. The only thing I can think of that's missing is his version of Roy Buchanan's "The Messiah will come again", but to be truthful, I've always thought Roy's version could never be bettered.

Finally, the sound quality is way above average. In these days of poorly mastered CDs, it's quite a novelty to find a good recording!

15.03.2009:first concert with my own band

Wow, I cannot believe it, I actually made it through my first concert with my own band and although I feel there is just so much more improvement to be made on my side I am so proud of the boys. They did an amazing job and I am all the more grateful to have found them.
Okay I will now describe how the whole weekend felt like from my point of view.
On Friday Flo and I picked up a rented mobile home because we wanted a vehicle that allowed a familiar comfy feeling and also enable all the equipment in. On Saturday we picked every body up real early in the morning around seven thirty, sadly I didn't press the right button while filming so I only have a mini glimpse ...like I said it was early.
Once everything was loaded in and we head out to Bremen, I could feel this amazing feeling of excitement, adventure and joy in all of us, we giggled and rehearsed through the music sheets. It reminded me of when I was younger, like an inner thrill one shares with everyone on the bus heading to a destination and hoping to rock a place but not really knowing if it will all work out .
Once we got to Bremen we started building up the stage and finally I could see how my curtain looked like with some lighting and there was this sense of relief cause I wondered if my white tiger cloth would be a bit too much, however as I wanted to create a retro punky classy funky atmosphere I really felt: Jap we are getting closer with this. After we rehearsed I started getting ready, when all at once Flo said: "Maite, there is a line of people out there for you in the rain", I was like: What that can't be??? ....see the clip.
The closer the hour of my concert was the more my tummy was turning. I thought I was going to faint at one point. I don't know why I was so nervous I just thought, okay Maite, Britney Spears must have felt much much more pressure on her first comeback concerts. You are just doing fine, as long as your private parts don't show you will be fine.

Once I was on stage and I turned and started too loud I thought shoot your first note was completely false, my legs were shaking and I was like: Maite, calm down, calm down. You're just fine. I tried to just concentrate on the lyrics and what I felt about them but my nervousness only really got better once I told the sweet public that I was really nervous and showed them my trembling hand....then things just started flowing more and more only that somehow my mike and cable had a bad mood and I was getting it all caught up etc.

When I called up a young man on stage because he had the most important question of his life to ask his girlfriend and that is: "Will you marry me, Sandra?", I was close to tears and I tried to sing them a Maite version of Louise Armstrongs "Wonderful world" as good as I could...they were so cute and romantic and I wish them all the babies in the world.
When the boys started singing Ayayayayayaya on my quirky song "Life to be live" I just couldn't help breaking down with laughter and the crowd agreed with me on that.
History was like the rock punk reggae highlight of the evening ...it was good to spring on stage again although I had to hold my pants from falling hahaha.
After the show I went to sign autographs and I enjoyed the feedbacks of many people, everybody seemed happy, it just got really tight at one point and as I am closet phobic I was relieved I was called in by Flo, cause there was someone on the phone for me...I then went back out about 40 minutes later but many had already left so I mentioned to Flo that the next time we will organise a table where I can receive as many as possible without me getting squashed, as I am asthmatic I am really sensitive to that...but I really want to find a way of meeting the fans and taking time for as many as possible after the concerts. We will figure something out...thanks for your guestbook improvement tips.

In all I am happy I did dare do something I never did before and although two girls said, I could do better and that they preferred Angelos show, I take that as a good critic and Angelo is a big example for me. So if in four years (he has his band now for four years) I can do it half as good as him I'm happy.
Thank you to the girls who said I could become a great concurrence to him hahahaha. That's an amazing compliment and I agree we shouldn't compare. He will always be my Baby Brother and I will always want him to have the better part because I am proud of him.
